Parents who are looking for a fun way to keep their children active and healthy this winter can register now for the co-ed basketball leagues offered at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County units in Portage and South Haven.
Registrations are accepted at the South Haven Unit (723 Long Run Road, Valparaiso, IN) and at the Forrest L. “Dusty” Rhode Portage Unit (5895 Evergreen) between 3:30-8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registration is open until December 13, 2013. Early registration is encouraged as divisions do fill quickly. Players will enjoy equal playing time, develop their skills and make new friends.
Co-ed basketball league fees are $30.00 for the 6-7 year old division, $35.00 for the 8-10 year old and $40.00 for the 11-13 year old divisions. There are a limited number of available spots for each age division. League fees include a reversible team jersey and a medal awarded at the end of the season. All players must also have a Club membership. Boys & Girls Club of Porter County offers affordable memberships for $35.00 per year. Financial aid for membership and athletic league fees are available for those who qualify. Volunteers are needed for coaching positions. Coaches are required to successfully complete a background screening and attend a mandatory Coach’s meeting.
