“We do this every year for our residents and families,” said Natalie Reisen, Marketing Director for Rittenhouse Senior Living. “This is just a great way for us to give back to our community. We invite all our residents to come out with their families and just have a great time. Every year we have a theme and this year’s theme was ‘Western’ so we had a bunch of cowboy hats around for people to wear and we encouraged everyone to dress in their best western attire.”

All the food for the Resident and Family Picnic, from the hot dogs, corn dogs, beans, and baked potatoes as well as a variety of desserts, was prepared in house by the kitchen staff at Rittenhouse.

“We’ve had some great community involvement for today’s picnic,” Reisen said. “Walgreens donated ice cream and root beer for us to be able to make everyone a root beer float. We had the Kona-Ice truck here making people complimentary sno-cones. We had two live horses for people to pet and they were provided by the family of our Activities Director so we’re so happy we could arrange that.”

Leanna Hall, who works at Rittenhouse, was there helping and visiting with residents, and was making sure everyone was having a great time.

“I’ve been with Rittenhouse for three years,” Hall said. “I really enjoy working with the elderly. We have people from all over living here and they have such amazing, interesting stories. And this is a really nice place to work, I enjoy it so much. I’ve worked at a few different places and here we have such a great team. That’s really hard to find.”

While it was a little too hot for dancing, families and residents still enjoyed classic country music provided by 5 Star DJ as well as live music from Jerry Vernon & The Country Band.

“It’s just fantastic living here,” said Rittenhouse resident and Kouts native, Marge Lippert. “I’ll have been here three years in August and there’s such peace of mind here. The camaraderie between everyone is great. They’re very caring here and they really want us to have a good time. They’ll do anything to make us smile!”

The people at Rittenhouse Senior Living believe that, above everything, residents come first. Through the placement of individual progress and personal fulfillment as their highest objectives they can focus on each resident and his or her enjoyment of life.
