rTrail Collective Edge Now Open for Business!

If you’ve walked on Lincolnway over the past few months, you may have noticed a brightly colored, swirly painted window. That location, featuring only one swirly painted window now, is the home of rTrail Collective Edge.

rTrail Collective Edge is a business with the purpose to unite the community with local artists. Founded in 2008 by Brenda Magnetti Erickson with Jaishankar Raman, Valparaiso University, and the Students In Free Enterprise organization, rTrail is focused on creating a inspiring a healthy community one project at a time. The current project is focusing on helping local artists market their work and get exposure to the community. The store, set up in the style of a gallery, features artists from the Northwest Indiana area who work in a variety of mediums, from painting to woodwork, jewelry to textile art.

rTrail also works to connect the community to art through various projects. At the Central Park Plaza Market, they offer Family Art projects, from painting pots in a South African Zulu color pattern to “stepping inside” a NWI rural landmark photo by Brad Cavanaugh of Air One Aerial Photography. In the store, rTrail has created a community art project where residents can design a stamp that is printed on sheets of paper to create a wall-sized commemorative art project.
