National Hospital Week is celebrated in hospitals throughout the United States to celebrate the women and men who support the health and wellbeing of their communities through dedication and compassionate care each year during May. During Hospital Week 2021 last week, Methodist Hospitals presented the Humanitarian, Leader, Employee and Safety Star of the Year awards to the deserving team members below.

Humanitarian of the Year – Mekeda Henderson, Cashier, Food Services
The Humanitarian of the Year award recognizes a Methodist Hospitals’ employee who, apart from excellent performance at work, has also made a great impact on the lives of people in the communities we serve. This award is meant to encourage Methodist employees to go out and make a difference in the world around us.
Co-Leaders of the Year – Jacquelyn Ivankovic, PharmD & Lyndsay Simpson, RN
The Leader of the Year Award recognizes a supervisor, manager or director judged by their peers to embody the values, mission, vision and Model of Care and Conduct of Methodist Hospitals, including our I-Care Values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.
Co-Employees of the Year – Brittany Decrescenzo, RN & Jill Sarbenoff, CNS
Co-Employee of the Year Award recognizes an employee for their outstanding contributions, accomplishments and behavior that exemplifies the Methodist Model of Care and Conduct.
Safety Star of the Year – Patricia Celis
The Safety Star of the Year recognizes an employee who models safety behavior and has made a major contribution to improving safety for our patients and staff by reducing errors and harm.
