Since 2011, Lakeshore PAWS has created a culture of compassion throughout northwest Indiana as it strives each day to give every pet a stable home and proper care throughout its life. With a mission of finding loving homes for abandoned and unwanted pets, the nonprofit provides incredible care and attention to detail for each and every pet in need of help. Not only do all pets require love and essential veterinary services to live a happy life, they deserve it, and this is something that Lakeshore PAWS understands deeply.
Supporters, clients, and community advocates throughout northwest Indiana shared their appreciation for Lakeshore PAWS and its mission, which touches countless lives, homes, and hundreds of pets each year. “I have known Jeanne Sommer for 12 years now and she has only ever wanted the best for every dog in her care or the care of Lakeshore PAWS. She has sacrificed so much for this rescue and the dogs. This is a nonprofit organization, which means Jeanne does this all out of the goodness of her heart. LSP rescued about 1000 dogs last year and couldn’t save 11 out of that number. Sadly, we all know there is a heartbreaking side to rescue, which is euthanizing the ill or aggressive. I will be stepping in for Jeanne as director of LSP. I hope we can put this behind us and get back to focusing on the dogs and finding them loving families.”
