St. Mary Medical Center has announced the addition of Podiatrist Jared L. Moon, DPM, to the hospital’s medical staff. A native of the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, he received his medical degree from DesMoines University-College of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery. He completed his podiatric medicine and surgery residency at the DeKalb Medical Center in Georgia in conjunction with the Podiatry Institute, with added credentials in reconstructive rear foot and ankle surgery.
During his residency, he volunteered in El Salvador with the “Healing the Children” organization, performing surgery on underprivileged children to treat clubfoot. He also volunteered in the medical tent of the Atlanta Marathon in 2012, treating runners’ injuries.
Dr. Moon’s expertise is featured in a chapter of “McGlamry’s Comprehensive Textbook of Foot and Ankle Surgery” which is widely used as a reference source by both surgeons and podiatry students.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know each of my patients,” said Dr. Moon. “I believe listening is key to being able to provide the best treatment. Podiatry has the potential to bring impressive changes and improvements in the way patients are able to walk without pain. Sometimes the simplest treatments can have the greatest impact on quality of life,” he said.
Dr. Moon is accepting new patients at his offices conveniently located in Winfield and Valparaiso. For more information about physicians and surgeons on staff at St. Mary Medical Center, call the free physician referral line at 219-836-3477 or toll-free 866-836-3477.
