Strong Start Gives Vikings Boys Basketball Team Victory Over Portage

A fast-paced, 20-2 start gave the Valparaiso High School boys varsity basketball team a 72-46 victory over DAC-rival Portage on Friday night in their game at Valparaiso High School.

The Vikings set the tone early, getting ahead 20-5 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. They were led by a stellar performance by senior Jerrick Suiter, who recorded 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting, seven rebounds, four assists, four blocks, and three steals. Jay Doane put up 12 points in the game while Adam Butterfield added 10 points and five assists.

Valpo had a great game finding the open man, as they totaled 24 assists in the 32-minute game, and their defense really put a stranglehold on the Indians, the Vikings were able to outscore Portage in every quarter.
