We love celebrating our residents any way we can, and resident birthdays are especially important to us. But when a resident reaches a very special birthday milestone –– age 100 and beyond –– we get extra excited!
Below are a few of our residents who recently celebrated their day of birth, which was more than 100 years ago!
Louise at The Highlands –– age 103
Louise, a resident at The Highlands just celebrated her 103rd birthday!
She was born in Boston and lived for many years at the Sundial, where she established long-lasting friendships with Doris and Ed. Louise proudly shared that she was Queen of Fitchburg's Civic Days in 2010 (at the age of 90), participating in all the festivities.
Louise loves being outside on the patio, playing games and sharing her recollections of past vacations. When asked if she had any secrets for living so long, she shrugged and said, "I don't know!" But she laughs when it's suggested that her spiciness is what has kept her going! Louise was glad to share her cake with her fellow residents and our staff. She even wanted to make sure that Bella (the dog) got a bite!
Vallee at Life Care Center of Punta Gorda –– age 101
Happy 101st birthday to Vallee! We are so proud of her and all that she has experienced. It's been a true honor having her as a resident.
Inez “Jimmie” McCaffee at Life Care Center of Greeley –– age 108
Ms. McCaffee recently had a very big day! Inez "Jimmie" McCaffree, resident at Life Care Center of Greeley, just celebrated her 108th birthday!
Jimmie was born in 1915 on a farm in Elsie, Nebraska, where she lived for 40 years before moving to Sterling, Colorado. Jimmie spent her life serving others. She was a nurse until age 65, and she and her husband sponsored a couple from India for a time.
The care team at Life Care Center of Greeley describe Jimmie as a “firecracker” with a fantastic sense of humor and a kind heart. Jimmie celebrated her birthday surrounded by family, friends and her care team.
