If there’s anything we’re known for here at GreatNews.Life, it’s the countless photos we capture at nearly every game, every gathering, every celebration. Although 2020 was different, our coverage team was able to capture those new moments and new changes. Whether it was high school or college graduations, holiday parades, sports championship games, or gatherings to distribute food and supplies to families or frontline workers in need, we did our best to stay safe this year, remained flexible with all that was being thrown at us, and tried to take care of ourselves during the chaos and uncertainty. We took thousands of photos in 2020, and we think it’s a pretty great recap of the good that happened throughout Valparaiso.

First responders honor Porter Regional Hospital staff

To show support and appreciation for the incredible work that our healthcare heroes are doing, first responders around the area gathered at Porter Regional Hospital to honor their dedication and service during this time. Thank you hospital staff and first responders everywhere!

On Wednesday afternoon, State Senator Ed Charbonneau presented Jon Groth, retired director of the Porter County Career and Technical Center, with the Sagamore of the Wabash award, one of the highest honors the Governor of Indiana can bestow.

Popcorn Panic 5K 2020

Despite Popcorn Festival 2020 being cancelled, Valpo Parks still held their annual Popcorn Panic 5K. To keep runners safe but still able to have a great time they created a new race course, limited participants, and implemented rolling start times. 

Tuba Christmas 2020

Cold weather could not stop the annual Tuba Christmas from being held in Valparaiso on Sunday, December 6. Musicians came from across Northwest Indiana, and as far away as Illinois and Michigan to perform in the parking lot of Quinlan and Fabish. Tuba Christmas is an event with an almost 50 year history. Each year Tuba players, many of which do not know each other, come together for just one day to play Christmas music.
