Study: 3 Square Meals a Day Paired with Lean Protein Help People Feel Full During Weight Loss

Purdue University shared new research that eating fewer, regular-sized meals with higher amounts of lean protein can make one feel more full than eating smaller, more frequent meals. "We found that when eating high amounts of protein, men who were trying to lose weight felt fuller throughout the day; they also experienced a reduction in late-night desire to eat and had fewer thoughts of food," said Heather J. Leidy, an assistant professor of nutrition and exercise physiology at the University of Missouri.

Valparaiso's Own Competing to Become the Biggest Loser

We cheered as two Valparaiso residents, Marci and Courtney Crozier, joined the 2011 season of NBC's The Biggest Loser as the Aqua Team. Starting out at 238 and 323 pounds respectively, both ladies whittled their weight down and are now both advocates for healthy lifestyles. "The biggest message I personally want to send to everyone with this opportunity that I've been given is that you do NOT need a show, a ranch or world class trainers to CHANGE YOUR LIFE!" stated Courtney.

The support for the Valpo Biggest Loser contestants held strong throughout the season. A motivational walk was held, beginning outside the Dairy Queen owned by the Crozier family. Marci, Courtney, and Arthur, another contestant from Oregon, turned out to share some of their positive thoughts and take a walk around Valpo.

Tom Little shared his journey to weight loss, from talking about his motivation to lose weight being that he couldn't keep up with his son who was 2 years old at the time, to the path he took to achieve that goal, through diet and exercise. Starting at 250 pounds, Tom brought his weight down to 203 pounds.
