Touch a Truck is a Huge Hit with the Kids

The Immanuel Lutheran Church and School hosted the Touch a Truck event, free and open to any audience, on Saturday May 11, 2013. The event is primarily for children to experience what it’s like to be inside and up close to many interesting trucks and vehicles like race cars, fire trucks, and police cars.

All the children that participated in this event received a free yellow hard hat and a race car flag to hold on to as they took a tour of all the vehicles. The children were enthused when they got to honk horns and set off sirens in all the different vehicles.

"This is a community event for everyone… we have many different trucks. We have the Family Express truck that moo's we have two semi-trucks and Costal Water Valley trucks,"Kristen Kearney, host of the Touch a Truck said. "We also have race cars and buses so the children have all kinds of neat things here to look at and do. I would also like to thank the Valparaiso Fire Department and the Valparaiso Police Department, Family Express, Costal Valley Water Company and Greens towing for coming out today."

The variety of vehicles at the Touch a Truck event fascinated children of all ages and the Valparaiso Fire Department using the "Jaws of Life" left its audience astonished. The event was really an experience for those who have never been able to get up close and personal with such large vehicles and may surely have inspire some of these children to become policemen, firemen or even a race car driver when they grow up.
