One of the prime times for generous giving falls during the upcoming holiday season when people are in a giving spirit. As an organization that embraces and empowers community, United Way Northwest Indiana is seeking your support this holiday season to help families become financial stable through its Level Up program.
“Over 41% of people in Northwest Indiana can't afford basic needs or they're one emergency away from financial distress,” said Marketing Director Joe Justak. “Our Level Up program pushes the boundaries of traditional assistance by helping working, struggling residents advance their careers, become more financially sound, and gain insights that can help them be more independent and successful.”
Although they have already making major strides in the five counties it serves — Jasper, Lake, Newton, Porter, and Starke — Justak knows the key to growing impact is raising awareness and making it easy for residents to support their neighbors.
“Residents may think they know what we do, but they may not really know. We’ve broken the traditional United Way mold to deliver direct services to residents in need; residents that might not find assistance elsewhere,” Justak said.
To help residents learn more about their work and support a good cause, United Way is kicking off a Something Good campaign on November 28, and Justak urges residents to take part.
“Bringing in technology is key to making it simpler for people to give back. Whether it's $5 or $5,000, whatever you can give will help move the needle,” Justak said.
The 2023 Something Good Campaign will fuel positive change in Northwest Indiana and United Way wants you to be there. Connect with them at Facebook, X, Instagram and LinkedIn before November 28 to be in the know.
