Vale Park Animal Hospital celebrates new location, maintains same friendly demeanor

In June 2020, the staff at Vale Park Animal Hospital made a huge change, when, over the course of three days, they moved into their new building at 3515 Lake Meade Circle in Valparaiso. This new location officially opened on June 15, 2020. For their team, the larger facility has been a bit of an adjustment, but pet owners can count on there being the same friendly, caring attitude that Dr. Mary Ann Sheller and Dr. Brent Lakia and his staff have towards pets of every kind!

“We definitely picked a challenging time to move,” Dr. Lakia said. “Change is hard, but also good. We had outgrown our old building, and as our patients continued to come to the office, we had to hire team members to support those patients and clients, which meant we had more and more people needing to come to the office every day.”

The changes have resulted in a slew of new opportunities for the staff at Vale Park Animal Hospital. The new facility provides separate entrances for dogs and cats, which lowers the risk for high stress situations for pet owners and their animals. The facility has given the staff at Vale Park Animal Hospital the chance to expand upon the procedures they are able to perform in-house.

“We have eight canine exam rooms, three feline exam rooms, and one comfort room for difficult conversations and end of life services,” Dr. Brent said.

Within the dog wing of the hospital, the dog scale is hidden in the floor, making it less scary for pets to get weighed. The exam rooms also have drop down tables to make it more open and comfortable for everyone to interact.

The new building also features a large lobby that, once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, will offer some concierge services.  Additionally, they now have two operating rooms and two dental suites to support a larger surgical and dental caseload.

Although this new location offers a tremendous number of rooms and new features, the new facilities have left some pet owners needing to adjust to the changes made by Vale Park Animal Hospital staff. Dr. Brent urges their clients to have patience while they learn how to best utilize their new space.

“We were able to build a hospital where we could continue to offer exceptional veterinary services in a state-of-the-art new building,” said Dr. Lakia. “However, we are also learning our new space, so please be patient with us as we learn how workflow functions in this new, large space, and give us feedback when we succeed or don’t meet your expectations.”

In addition to their veterinary services, Vale Park Animal Hospital offers extensive treatments and boarding for your animals. If you are interested in their services, please give them a call at (219) 462-5785 or visit their website at https://valeparkah.com/.
