Valparaiso Adds New Stops on Franklin Street

The City of Valparaiso has added two new all-way stop signs on Franklin Street, at the intersection with Chicago Street and Jefferson Street, announced Max Rehlander, Engineering Director.

“Based on an analysis of traffic counts and pedestrian movements, converting these intersections to all-way stops will enhance safety for both vehicles and pedestrians,” he said. The new stop signs, along with roadway striping to call attention to them, were installed on August 23, 2023. “We want to make motorists aware of the change and the reason for it. Pedestrian safety is top priority and we continue to evaluate ways to make our roadways safer,” he said.
