Valparaiso High School Track & Field Win Valpo Relays

Congratulations Valparaiso Boys Track & Field on winning both Frosh/Soph and Varsity at Valpo Realys!

Valpo Relays were held on Fri. May 6. The meet started off honoring the graduating seniors of 2011. Congratulations Seniors Michael Bobos, Jon Covington, Jay Doane, Justin Hreha, Nik Jeftich, George Krasoczka, Dan Marchetti, Colin Stiscak and Adam Thoma.

Schools participating in the Valpo Relays were Hammond High School, Hammond Bishop Noll, South Bend Washington High School, East Chicago Central, Mishawaka, Chesterton & Valparaiso. It was a close meet with Mishawaka, Chesterton and Valpo, they were the top three schools of the meet. Valpo won with 119 points to Chesterton 105 and Mishawaka 96.

A lot of Valparaiso Community Schools teachers and staff came out to volunteer and lend support: Principal Doane, Mr Knauff, Mr. Pavell, Coach Hoffman just to name a few. Thank you for coming out and supporting Valpo Relays teachers, staff & volunteers.

The meet was host to a few unique events such as the Shuttle Hurdle race. Hurdlers running in opposite directions at the same time until 4 team members complete all 10 hurdles from both directions. As well as the Fat Mans Relay ending the night made up of shot put and discus throwers. Also during the Open mile any that wanted to participate were welcome. There were 3 young participants. Jack & Nick Schwartz younger brothers to VHS Track Teammate Zack Schwartz and Daniel Dalton younger brother of VHS Track Teammate Patrick Dalton. Great job keeping up with the big guys Jack, Nick & Daniel. Looking forward to seeing you all run for VHS Track.

Valpo Relays were full of excitement and adrenalin. Teams were racing in full force none holding anything back, PR's (personal records) again being broken, not leaving out the field events. If you have not yet had the chance to see the best of Valpo Track compete, there is still time. On Wednesday May 11 at 5pm right here at Valparaiso High School will be the Duneland Athletic Conference Championship (DAC) Meet.
