Valparaiso’s September 11 Observance Set at the First Responders Tribute Garden

Valpo-Parks-Sept-11-Observance-2011The public is invited to the annual September 11 observance at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11 at the First Responders Tribute Garden located in Foundation Meadows Park at 3210 Campbell in Valparaiso. The Cooks Corners 5th grade class will walk to the ceremony accompanied by the Valparaiso Fire Department honor guard.

Principal Erin Utesch will speak on the history of 9/11, while Mayor Jon Costas and State Representative Ed Soliday will pay tribute to those affected forever by the events of September 11, 2001, and observe a moment of silence to reflect on the tragedy that affected all Americans on that day. Deputy Fire Chief Steve Jacobs will have the closing comments of the ceremony.

Any attendees at the ceremony are welcome to join the 5th graders in their procession back to Cooks Corners Elementary School. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Parks Department Maintenance building at the same site.
