On Wednesday, April 9, Valparaiso University hosted Valpo Day — its largest fundraising and community engagement event of the year. Sponsored by The NWI Times, this year’s celebration featured a wide range of activities organized by Valpo’s colleges, student organizations, and athletic teams, city-wide specials in honor of the historic University, and a moment of reflection and gratitude at the outdoor Resurrection Labyrinth on campus.
Thousands of Valpo supporters — from across the region and the nation — came together to champion the University’s mission. Alumni, students, faculty, and staff proudly wore their Valpo gear, joined in games and events at the Harre Union and across campus, and engaged enthusiastically online. Social media buzz had been building for weeks, creating momentum and connection leading up to the big day.
“Valpo Day exemplifies the spirit of our community,” said Marie Foster-Bruns, vice president for advancement. “Thanks to the campus-wide collaboration and the generosity of alumni and friends from 48 states and three countries — including 17 donors who offered matching gifts — we proudly reached our $1.2 million goal, celebrating Valparaiso University and honoring its mission. The overwhelming support this year speaks volumes about our shared commitment to excellence and the future of our students.”
For those unable to attend in person, the University offered a day-long livestream of events from the Harre Union, including the Valpo Day Reception and the evening lighting of the Resurrection Labyrinth. A full recap and photos from the day are available on the Valpo Day webpage.
Valpo Day is an annual tradition that celebrates the heart and mission of Valparaiso University. The campus community is already looking forward to reconnecting and celebrating again in 2026.
