The Valparaiso University Department of Athletics and Director of Sports Medicine Nate Twedt have announced the hiring of Katelyn Dye and Stefvany Miller to the department’s sports medicine staff as assistant athletic trainers.
Dye has been promoted to a full-time role after previously serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Valpo for the last two years. She will continue to work with the Valpo women’s soccer and track & field programs.
Dye graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training in May 2019. She also studied kinesiology/fitness development with an emphasis on strength & conditioning. Dye went on to earn her master’s degree in sports administration from Valpo in May 2021.
The owner of multiple athletic training certifications, Dye gained experience as an athletic training student at Coe College from 2016-2019 while also garnering advanced clinical experience and interning at the Loras All-Sports Camp in Dubuque, Iowa.
Miller, who will work with the Valpo volleyball and track & field programs, joins the Valpo sports medicine staff after previously serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Quincy University, where she worked with football and men’s lacrosse and assisted with men’s and women’s basketball. She earned her master’s degree in educational leadership from Quincy in May 2021.
Prior to Quincy, Miller was a part of Western Michigan University clinical rotations, working with women’s basketball, football, men’s soccer and softball. She graduated from Western Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training in December 2017. Miller’s other work experiences include Bronson Methodist Hospital and WMU summer camps. She has numerous certifications and is a member of several professional organizations.
