Two dozen junior golfers age 12 and under participated in the Creekside Classic For Kids Skills competition on July 21 at Creekside Golf Course and Training Center in Valparaiso. Juniors competed in six skill areas and the winners were:
Eight and Under:
- Putt – Sam Carraher
- Chip – Sam Carraher
- Pitch – Sam Carraher
- Sand – Sam Carraher
- Longest Drive – Chase Young
- Three Hole play– Sam Carraher
Nine and Ten Year Olds:
- Putt – Colin Kaleth
- Chip – Tyler VerSchure
- Pitch – Bryce Yagelski
- Sand – Jacob Kusbel
- Long drive – Gabe Sterling
- Three Hole play– Colin Kaleth
Eleven and Twelve Year Olds:
- Putt – Roman Locke
- Chip – Dakota Stacy
- Pitch – Val Gozo
- Sand – Roman Locke
- Long drive – Dakota Stacy
- Three Hole – Dakota Stacy
The afternoon 12-hole scramble, which consists of two adults and two juniors in each foursome, was won by Team OZINGA with junior golfers Bryce Yagelski and Dakota Stacy, paired with Don Rapley and Jason Rapley with a score of 37. Second place finish went to team Drone/Odle with junior golfers Harrison Odle and Carter Drone, paired with Rick Odle and Bill Hauntelder, turning in a scorecard of 38, with a score tie breaker going back to Hole 8 with a score of 3. Placing third with a 4 on hole 8 was Team Davis/Jaegar consisting of junior players DJ Erspamer and Andrew Karr and adults Jim Davis and Dean Jaeger.
