Valpo Night Ride Registration
The 4th Valpo Night Ride taking place on Saturday, August 23 and riders can sign up that night. The 15-mile organized bicycle ride that takes cycling enthusiasts on a night ride in and around the City at their own safe pace. Organized by the Valpo Parks Department and the city’s Pathways Committee, the event offers fitness activity, food and fun. Those under age 10 must be accompanied by adult or in a pull-behind or tandem bike. Price is $40 per person for ages 10 and up; $30 for those under age 10.
Fitness Class at Fairground Parks LifeTrail Equipment
The LifeTrail® Advanced Wellness System at Fairgrounds Park is the site of this new exercise class taught by Faithful Road Fitness and endorsed by the Valpo Parks Department. A certified trainer will instruct class three times a week, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday starting September 2 through October 10, at 5:30 AM rain or shine. Sessions start and end with a fitness test to gauge participant progress. This first session will instruct users how to utilize the equipment for weight loss and burning fat. Price is $75 per person.
Popcorn Panic Registration
The traditional race that marks the beginning of the Popcorn Fest for many with the 5 mile run or 5K walk takes place Saturday, September 6 at Central Park Plaza. Start time is 7:30 AM for those ages 10 and over. Register online, at the Parks office or at Extra Mile Fitness. Price is $35 per person.
Lit’l Kernel Puff Registration
Kids aged 2 to 9 years old can participate in the race tradition of Popcorn Fest with this kid-friendly version! Kids run for fun in age group heats; distances vary from 100 to 300 yards. Everyone who runs receives a participation ribbon. Register early as space is limited to 675 kids. Price is $20 per person.
Music Movers ages 6 months to 3 years old
Parents can engage in musical moments with their child. Song, play and movement will create fun for all. The Thursday class runs September 4 – 25 with two age groups: 6 – 18 months old from 5:30 to 6:00 PM; 18 months – 3 years old from 6:00-6:30 PM in Discovery Cottage at 1155 Harrison Blvd. Price is $25 for city residents and $37 for non-residents.
Friday Night Science
Parents can get a couple hours to themselves on Friday night: As Discovery Cottage is turned into a science lab, Electric Circuits will be the subject on September12 6:30 to 8:00 PM. The science class is for youth ages 6 -12 and is located at 1155 Harrison Boulevard from. Price is $25 for city residents and $37 for non-residents.
