Valpo Parks Hosts Veterans Day Ceremony at Foundation Meadows

The Valpo Parks, in collaboration with the Valpo Parks Foundation, will host a Veterans Day ceremony on Friday, November 8. The program begins at 9:00 am at the Service Memorial at Foundation Meadows Park, located at 3210 N. Campbell Street, Valparaiso.

The ceremony will honor veterans with a program featuring:

  • Host: Valpo Parks Director, Kevin Nuppnau
  • Honor Guards: Valpo Police and Valpo Fire Departments
  • Taps: Performed by Deputy Prosecutor Chris Hammer
  • Music: America the Beautiful by VHS Choir
  • Words of Reflection: Mayor Jon Costas
  • Benediction: Porter County Sheriffs Police Chaplain Jay Birky
  • Guest Speaker: Steven Bramer, Army Veteran and Purple Heart recipient

Mr. Bramer served nine years in the Army, including a tour of duty in Iraq. Currently, he dedicates his time to assisting veterans with PTSD.

The Service Memorial, established in 2003, honors local heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Military veterans and members of the committee that founded the memorial, will participate by reciting the names inscribed on the Duty & Sacrifice Wall.

We invite everyone to join us on Friday, November 8th, as we honor our Veterans. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held indoors.
