Valparaiso University has introduced the Valpo Victory Fund as the new name for its athletics annual fund.
The word “victory” connects the past, present and future of Valpo Athletics as student-athletes of multiple generations have experienced the tradition of ringing the iconic Victory Bell after enjoying successes in competition. From Bryce Drew’s famous shot in 1998 to the numerous team photos displayed in “The Hall of Champions” to the countless student-athletes who have graduated and gone on to achievements in their life endeavors, Valpo Athletics is all about victories.
It seems only fitting that the annual fund that helps make those victories in the competition, in the classroom and in life possible would incorporate that word into its new name. Although the name is new, the mission remains unchanged. The Valpo Victory Fund will continue to help Valpo Athletics fulfill its commitment to providing the most meaningful experience possible for its student-athletes.
“We are tremendously appreciative of everyone who has contributed to our athletics annual fund,” Director of Athletics Mark LaBarbera said. “Those generous contributions have helped make Valpo victories possible for our student-athletes, past and present. Support from members of the Valpo Family helps us provide our student-athletes with the opportunity to reach their full potential academically and athletically. One of the most rewarding aspects of working in intercollegiate athletics is witnessing the moment of pure joy when our student-athletes experience a significant victory. The phrase ‘Valpo victory’ is closely associated with those unforgettable moments, and we are proud to use those words to represent the fund that is such a vital part of making those victories a reality.”
