Junior Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) added to his list of Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week distinctions as the league office announced its weekly awards on Friday.
This marks the second time this season and the seventh time in his collegiate career that VanArragon has been tabbed MVC Golfer of the Week. He won two weekly awards as a freshman and three as a sophomore. VanArragon shared this week’s honor with Drake’s Tim Lim and Southern Illinois’ Matthis Besard.
VanArragon shared the top spot at this week’s Spirit Hollow Fall Shootout by carding an even par on the par-72, 7297-yard Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa. The Valpo junior tied for medalist honors in the single-round, stroke-play event against Missouri Valley Conference foes Bradley and Drake. This marked VanArrangon’s third straight top-two finish and the seventh time in his collegiate career he finished as either the individual medalist or tournament runner-up. Wednesday represented his sixth round of par or better so far this season.
The Beacons will be back in action at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate at RidgePointe CC in Jonesboro, Ark. beginning on Monday.
