VHS Cross Country Team Raising Funds for VROOM Running Club

Running… It’s that time again! I’m truly looking forward to my senior year at Valparaiso High School. This fall, I will again be running for this year’s VHS Cross Country Team. We as individuals and as a team are trying to raise money to support our Vroom Running Club (Valpo Runners Out On the Move).

Established in 1985, the club benefits the Valparaiso Running community and has made significant contributions over the years. Vroom helps pay for all our road race trips, is the main contributor of Camp at Pokagon State Park during the summer, and helps offset the high costs in athletics. All money will directly benefit and assist the team and our club.

As an incentive, all runners will receive $50.00 for every $150 we raise. I can use this money for pairs of running shoes, racing spikes, etc. As a common rule and known fact, shoes usually start to wear down after about 400 miles. Training anywhere from 50-60 mile weeks, in a short amount of time, I’ll be running through various shoes, literally. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.

If you choose to contribute, there is also an incentive. With a donation of $50 or more, your name or business will be listing in a VCC ad in the Times newspaper. To add on that, as a new promotion this year, your name will be displayed in a ValpoLife.com ad for an entire calendar year. You will be recognized as a supporter and contributor to Valpo Cross, along with various other prestigious Valparaiso businesses and generous people.

I’ll be accepting donations through the end of August and early September. Again, any amount helps and it would be greatly appreciated. Please make checks payable to Vroom Running Club.

Hope you come tow atch us this season, as we aim to contend for the state title, which is no doubt within our reach. Nothing Comes East.
