The Vikings took on the LaPorte Slicers in a DAC rivalry match on September 10th, falling 3-2. .
Valpo took the first two singles matches. Valpo’s Marc Shideler defeated the Slicers’ Carter Perry 6-0, 6-1, and Valpo’s Soma Szabo defeated LaPorte’s Ryan Hawkins 6-4, 6-1.
From there, things turned south for the Vikings. Josh Bartusch lost the final singles match in three sets 5-7, 6-2. 4-7. The Vikings’ doubles teams did not fair well either. Valpo’s Nate Johnson and Marty Porkop lost to Elliot Essling and Evan Williams 6-3, 6-2. The team of Nate Meyer and Quinn Donneu fell to LaPorte’s Mike Curtis and Bryce Geotz.
The JV team won 8-0.
