VHS Varsity, JV Basketball Teams Romp Hobart in Season Openers

The Valparaiso High School boys basketball teams came out in full force this weekend as the Varsity and JV squads traveled to Hobart High School to take on the Brickies, emerging victorious 75-34 and 42-15, respectively.

The Varsity team played some great defense against the overwhelmed Brickies, holding Hobart to just 16 points in the first half and 18 in the second. On offense, the team was led by Adam Butterfield’s 19 points and eight rebounds in 22 minutes of play. John Clymer added 14 points and three steals, and Jerrick Suiter added 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field. Dan Hummel came off the bench with 14 points and 5 rebounds.

The JV team fared no different in their 42-15 victory over the Brickies, putting up 32 of their 42 points in the paint. Jon Mosser led the Vikings with 10 points and five rebounds, while Drew Boetel added 8 points and three assists.

The Vikings’ next game will take place on Friday, December 3rd against a tough Lake Central team at Lake Central High School.
