Viking Girls Tennis Team Suffers Rare Defeat against Munster

The Valparaiso High School girls varsity tennis team dropped their record to 12-3 on the season with a rare 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Munster Mustangs, who are 14-1 on the season.

The Vikings singles team picked up the team’s two points, with Caitlin Kennedy defeating Nikki Heiniger 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 and Rachel Willing defeating Christian Tavitas 7-5, 6-3, while Kelly Kennedy fell to her Munster counterpart Jessica Rooth 1-6, 1-6.

The doubles team struggled against the Mustangs, as the pairing of Kate Spencer and Sonja Schaefer dropped their sets against Paiger Hever and Sam Sakevicius 1-6, 2-6. Brooke Sever and Ava Meyer also lost to Erica Tristsch and Mariana Rogers 3-6, 1-6.
