Viking Sports Report, March 23 – April 7, 2018

The MVP’s for each sport were Julia Amones from Vikettes, Jacklyn Bontrager from Girls’ Swimming and Diving, Rachel Moneta from Gymnastics, Emma Nieto from Cheerleading, Brandon Newman from Boys’ Basketball, Ryan Hrosik from Boys’ Swimming, Ian Dembowski from Wrestling, and Ari Gerdt from Girls’ Basketball.

Taelynn Oelling recently signed a scholarship offer to play basketball at Indiana University Northwest next year. Congratulations to Taelynn!

As the spring season rolls around, the Duneland Athletic Conference has released the winter season standings and All Sports standings. The Lady Vikings lead the DAC All Sports standings by 1.5 points over Chesterton. The boy’s also lead Chesterton by 1.5 points. Best of luck to our spring teams as they compete.

Congratulations to Brandon Newman who was selected to be a part to the Core Six Indiana Junior All Stars. The Indiana Junior All Stars will play twice against the Kentucky Junior All Stars and once against the Indiana Senior All Stars this June.

On Thursday, the VHS baseball team celebrated three of its senior athletes who will be playing baseball collegiately with a signing celebration. Congratulations to Gunnar Pullins at Olivet Nazarene University, Nick Caputo at Wabash College, and Marcus Gholston at Arizona Western College.
