Vikings Fall to Michigan City on Senior Night

The Vikings honored basketball seniors Drew Boetel, Tyler Ingram, and Sam Smith on Senior Night, but the Vikings fell to Michigan City 53 to 46 on Friday night.

The Wolves took a 29-26 at the end of the first half, which featured physical back-and-forth play throughout. Junior Brody Wilson kept Valpo in the contest offensively with 12 points on four three point baskets.

The physical play and strong defense continued in the second half, with Michigan City playing a good zone defense for the majority of the time. The Vikings were unable to find the bottom of the basket though, and didn't put up many points until just under two minutes to go in the fourth. Drew Boetel and Tyler Doane hit two threes to bring the game to 46-43. The Wolves were able to hit their free throws down the stretch though, and the Vikings couldn't dig their way out.

Wilson led the Vikings with 18 points on six three pointers, followed by Jay Doane with nine points and three assists.

The Vikings begin postseason play on Tuesday in the Michigan City Sectional against Merrillville at 6pm. Come out and support your Vikings!
