Saturday evening, the Valpo volleyball program will host its annual Dig for the Cure match in memory of all those who have battled cancer, and along with that, will be raising money all weekend long for the Rin Seibert Scholarship.
Seibert spent four decades leading Valparaiso recreational sports, earning numerous awards and honors for her dedication to her craft and passion for her position. A fixture on the Valpo campus, she received the Valparaiso University Outstanding Service Award in 2010, was a longtime member of Valpo’s faculty in the Department of Kinesiology and was inducted into the Valpo Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.
Seibert passed away in August of 2020 after multiple battles with cancer, but her Valpo legacy lives on through the Rin Seibert Scholarship, an initiative spearheaded by the volleyball program during the 2019 season. The program set out to recognize Rin’s courage and faith through her battles with cancer and to thank her for her longtime support of Valpo volleyball, Valpo Athletics and the Department of Kinesiology by raising funds for an endowed scholarship in her name.
The program will be accepting donations all weekend long for the Rin Seibert Scholarship. If you can’t be in attendance at the ARC this weekend, you can donate online to the scholarship fund by clicking here.
