VU’s Three Point Baskets Provide Funding for Youth Programs

BGCPCEach fall, the Valparaiso University Crusader’s Men’s Basketball team and four community businesses partner to make a difference in the lives of the youth in Porter County. This year is no exception. The Nothing But Net Three-Point Sponsorship Program provides that each time the Crusaders score a three-point basket during the 2010-2011 men’s basketball season, four local businesses will donate $20 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County. The 2010-2011 community organization’s supporting this year’s Nothing But Net program are Grieger’s, Urschel Laboratories, Realty Executives Premier and Lakeside Wealth Management Group.

Each year, this community partnership continues to help the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County deliver essential youth development programs to over 5,100 boys and girls who attend one of the four clubs located in Valparaiso, Portage, South Haven and Chesterton or one of the KIDSTOP child care locations located in elementary schools throughout Porter County.

The Boys & Girls Club of Porter County is a non-profit organization which provides children ages 5 to 18 with quality programming emphasizing character and leadership, education and career development; community service; technology training; financial literacy; health and life skills; the arts; sports, fitness and recreation; and family outreach.

The club operates facilities in Valparaiso, South Haven, Duneland and Portage. For more information on membership, volunteer opportunities or to make a tax deductible donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County, please contact your local Club or call (219) 464-7282 or visit www.bgcpoco.org.
