There is a big project taking place along the shores of Whiting, IN. The Whiting Lakefront Rehabilitation has been in progress for some time now and they are producing some beautiful results.
The project began in 2010 when the city of Whiting proposed the rehab for the Whiting Lakefront Park. It was funded in part by the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority. They generously pledged $19.4 million toward the project.
The plan was to restore parts of the park area and a new pier, boardwalk and small boat-launch area would be built in addition to the restoration.
