Why the Droid Bionic? Because Faster is Better.

The Droid Bionic, available through Verizon, is one of the few smartphones on the market to sport the 1GHz dual-core processor, making the phone arguably more powerful than the desktop computer that got me through my 2008 graduation at Purdue.

A longtime Android user, I found that moving over from the Droid Pro was nearly a lateral move for me, with two major exceptions as advantages for the Droid Bionic: the screen size and the speed.

The screen, my gosh, the screen is big and bright. There’s enough real estate to store twenty apps on each of the five set screens, giving the user plenty of customization and flexibility. The 4.3-inch qHD display (960x540, or one quarter of a full HD 1080p frame at the 16:9 aspect radio) produces images that look great on a small screen, and won’t leave many squinting and leaning to see what’s on the screen.

Outside of the dual-core processor, and I cannot overstate how much a difference this makes in navigating the phone, the Droid Bionic sports a smooth 4G LTE connection to the mobile web. I was driving to Chicago with my wife when I realized I couldn’t get a specific song out of my head until I heard it. She flipped on the Bionic, pulled up the YouTube app, and within seconds(!) I was listening to the song.

As a tech user, one of the cooler features on the Droid Bionic came with the front-facing phone, allowing the user to video chat with someone else on a web-cam or another person hooked up to a service like Skype. It’s crazy to see how technology has evolved to allow someone using a mobile phone to video chat seamlessly with someone at an office miles away. It’s awesome!

I would strongly suggest someone in the market for a new cell phone to try out the Droid Bionic and see what it can do for you. If you’re looking for something that works well and looks better, the Droid Bionic is right for you!
