A resident of Life Care Center of the Willows is living his dream. Michael Austin is lending his voice to radio. Local station WVLP 98.3 FM contacted Austin to do some voice over work, liners, and station IDs that air on the station regularly.
"He has a good time coming to WVLP and, for him, it's a huge event in his life," Gregg Kovach of WVLP said.
Austin has muscular dystrophy, which is a group of inherited disorders that cause muscle weakness and loss of muscle tissue, which worsens over time. There is no known cure for MS, but that doesn't stop Austin from living out his dream.
This is Austin's second time going to WVLP. And just like the time before, he loved it. He was able to do a few advertisements and learn more about how the radio station creates them. He also learned about some local bands and helped promote WVLP.
"It was a chance for Michael to do something of interest for the community," Susan Burdine, Marketing Director for Life Care Center of the Willows said. "A few of the staff members at the Willows also got a chance to participate in the fun and do a small line promoting the radio station."
