The Valparaiso International Center’s Fourth Friday Series

The Valparaiso International Center (The VIC) will sponsor a presentation about China-U.S. trade relations on Friday, July 26th, at 7 p.m. The event is part of The VIC’s Fourth Friday series, which is held monthly at the Montague/Urschel Gallery of the Porter County Museum (20 Indiana Avenue, Valparaiso, IN). The gallery is located behind the Aster Gray Shop on the corner of Indiana Avenue and Franklin Street. The entrance is located off of Franklin.

Zhimin Lin, Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Valparaiso University, will offer remarks on the state of trade relations between China and the United States. Born in China, Professor Lin received his bachelor’s degree from Fudan University in Shanghai, his master’s degree from Princeton, and Ph.D. from the University of Washington. A specialist on China and East Asia, Professor Lin has done extensive research on Chinese politics and international relations in the Asia-Pacific area. Many of his works have appeared in professional journals and books.

The VIC’s Fourth Friday is a monthly series of presentations and discussions about various international cultures. The speakers are natives of the subject country or have some special expertise to offer. Recent talks have covered Egypt, France, Iran, Uruguay, and Ghana.

“The VIC’s mission is to create an environment that brings people from across the globe together by promoting a community that is understanding of different cultures,” said Board Chair Hugh McGuigan. “All our sponsored programming works toward that goal, including our signature event, the World Cultural Festival, now in its eleventh year, which will be held on September 15th at Central Park Plaza in Valparaiso.”The Fourth Friday presentation on France is a family-friendly event open to all members of the community and free of charge.
