Purdue Northwest's Chad Patrick has been selected as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Pitcher of the Week, announced Monday by league headquarters.
Patrick, a senior from Hebron, Ind., was one out away from a no-hitter and recorded a career-high 15 strikeouts to lead PNW in a victory over Concordia-St. Paul. The strikeout total is tied for the second-most in a Division II game this season and also the second-most in team history during the D2 era.
It was Patrick's second one-hit, shutout in as many starts this season. The right-hander allowed only one walk and one hit, both in the final inning.
Patrick has now racked up 24 strikeouts in 14.0 scoreless innings pitched this season.
PNW returns to action Saturday against Parkside with Patrick slated to take the mound in Game 1 of the doubleheader.
