Over 400 Girl Scouts in the Valparaiso Area are would like to thank all of the volunteer adults who help them become stronger, smarter, and better young women. April 22 is the official Leader Appreciation Day but we thank them every day. During this year leaders have volunteered thousands of hours to Girl Scouting as leaders, co-leaders, product sale managers, day camp staff, trainers, and organizers all for the benefit of girl members. Enthusiastic volunteers lead 31 Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scout troops at Central, Cooks Corners, Flint Lake, Hayes-Leonard, Memorial, Northview, Parkview, St. Paul, and Thomas Jefferson Elementary Schools in Valparaiso as well as Washington Twp. School. Eleven Cadette, Senior, and Ambassadors troops from Ben Franklin Middle School, Thomas Jefferson Middle School, St. Paul School, and Valparaiso High School are lead by more dedicated volunteers.
Valparaiso Area Girl Scouts are part of the Girl Scout Council of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana, a United Way Agency. In the past year troops have contributed to our community in many ways including:
Volunteered during construction of the new ValPlayso playground
Did clean-up work at Dunes National Lakeshore
