Last night neighborhoods across Valparaiso joined together with the Valparaiso Police Department to show support against crime in the community. A total of six neighborhoods participated in this year’s National Night Out. Neighborhoods participating this year included Pine Creek Subdivision, Williamsburg on the Lake, High Sierra Subdivision, Lexington Green Subdivision, Campbell Meadows Subdivision and the 3500 block of Oak Grove.

Each location had a great turnout. Numerous police officers, police officer’s family members, volunteers and Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) members participated in the event. Bicycle officers displayed their bikes, police cars and K-9 Britta stole the show at most locations. Neighborhoods participating shared ice cream, hot dogs and many homemade dishes with visiting police officers. The Valparaiso Target Store was a corporate sponsor and provided back to school material to all the children participating.

This event was a huge success due to all the participation of community members in each neighborhood.
