Study Seeks Indiana Employers Making Accommodations for Women Who Pump Breast Milk at Work

PurdueLogo.jpegA Purdue University sociologist is recruiting Indiana employers to participate in a study about breast milk pumping in the workplace.

Elizabeth Hoffmann, an associate professor of sociology who studies workplace issues, is conducting a study about how businesses accommodate moms who wish to pump at work.

"Recently, Indiana passed a law addressing women employees who wish to pump breast milk at work," Hoffmann said. "Some businesses already have created accommodations for the needs of their lactating employees, while other businesses may be in the planning stages."

She is seeking employers to participate in the 20-minute phone interviews. Names of the individual and business will be kept confidential. Anyone participating in the interview or having questions should contact Hoffmann at 765-496-2225, ehoffman@purdue.edu.

The study is funded by the National Science Foundation.
