NAP Tax Credits are Still Available

When planning your philanthropic gift, you may want to consider taking advantage of the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credit.  Your contribution to Opportunity Enterprises of at least $100 enables you to receive up to 50 percent of the total contribution in tax credits (in addition to the $100 tax deduction you receive for the gift). Your donation will go toward our planned group home rehabilitation projects, which include upgrading kitchens and bathrooms for safety.

According to the Indiana Department of Revenue:

  • A tax credit and a tax deduction both work to reduce the total amount of tax you pay.
  • Deductions reduce the amount of your income that is taxable by subtracting the amount of the   donation from your income.
  • Once you have determined the taxable income you received for the year, you may be able to apply tax credits. Tax credits reduce the amount of the tax you must pay.

The tax credits are available on a limited first-come, first-served basis. Our goal is to raise our final $9,000 in donations by January 31, 2010. Please help us achieve this target by responding today.

We welcome and appreciate gifts of all sizes, but to qualify for NAP tax credits, gifts must be $100 or more. To participate in the NAP tax credit program, contact Liz Metts at 219-464-9621, Ext. 333 or elizabeth.metts@oppent.org.
