Orville-Redenbacher-Statue-Unveiling-2Valparaiso’s own life sized likeness of Orville Redenbacher will welcome another famous statue on Sunday Feb. 10: the Oscar. An actual Oscar statuette, the Academy Award, will appear at 3:30 p.m. in Central Park Plaza, 63 Lafayette St in downtown Valparaiso. The statue stop is part of the Oscar Road trip, which began on Feb. 4 in New York and will culminate with the 85th annual Academy Awards, hosted by Seth MacFarlane.

We’d like to thank the Academy for selecting Orville Redenbacher and Valparaiso as one of the stops along this fun motion picture tour,” said Mayor Jon Costas. “Orville has been a real draw for us since he joined us in September. He’s certainly the most photographed person in Valparaiso and we welcome the national paparazzi for the event on Sunday,” he said.

The public is invited to attend on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. and have their own photographs taken along with Orville and Oscar. The tour also features breakout comedians, producers, and a dedicated Oscar bodyguard who will be on site for Sunday’s event. Photos of the Valparaiso stop will be featured on the website OscarRoadTrip.com and on twitter at #oscarroadtrip Follow local coverage on facebook at facebook.com/ValparaisoNow.
