The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team cruised to a victory on Saturday afternoon by downing Huntington 7-0 in fall dual match action. Valpo was victorious at all six singles spots while also sweeping doubles competition.
How It Happened
- Junior Claire Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) and sophomore Isabella Schoolcraft (Bargersville, Ind. / Center Grove) teamed up at No. 1 doubles and didn’t drop a game, recording a 6-0 whitewash.
- Senior Dao Sysouvanh (Sun Prairie, Wis. / Sun Prairie) and freshman Amanda Tabanera (Valencia, Calif. / Valencia) secured the doubles point with their 6-3 victory.
- In the closest doubles match of the day, Olivia Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) and Demi Jhaveri (Westlake, Ohio / Westlake) earned a 7-5 win to make it a clean sweep.
- Tabanera was the first to finish in singles action, rolling to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Lanae Singleton.
- Jhaveri continued the theme of freshmen making quick work of their opponents by nailing down a nearly-flawless 6-1, 6-0 win over Lisa Colling at No. 5 singles.
- Claire Czerwonka topped Meg Dolde 6-2, 6-1 at the top singles spot before Sysouvanh clinched the team win with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Molly Burton at No. 6.
- Schoolcraft registered a 6-2, 6-1 win over Morgan Fitzpatrick at fourth singles before Olivia Czerwonka finished out the team sweep with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Charlotte Solli at the second singles slot.
